We had a fantastic first week back with students! Classrooms were filled with collaborative team-building activities designed to build a strong sense of community and help students develop positive relationships with their teachers and classmates. This work is intentional. AVID’s Foundations of Instruction (FOI) emphasizes that positive relationships and a supportive learning environment help students feel connected, valued, and more willing to participate, collaborate, take academic risks, and engage in their learning.
Sports practice is also in full swing! Permission to Participate slips are due September 2. As we navigate our late-summer temperatures, please know that we closely monitor both WBGT (Wet Bulb Globe Temperature) for heat conditions and RAAN for air quality. Coaches use this information to follow the appropriate exercise guidelines and make adjustments to practices when needed to keep our student-athletes safe.
Finally, a reminder for our 6th-grade families: our Sonora Camp Parent Meeting is this Thursday at 5:30 p.m. We look forward to sharing important information and answering questions as we prepare for this exciting 6th-grade experience!
