Fancher Creek Earns Title I Academic Achievement Award Congratulations to the students, teachers and parents from the Fancher Creek Community. Fancher Creek was named as a 2010 Title I Academic Achievement Award Winner. Only 238 of all Title I schools in California (roughly 3%) met the criteria to earn this award. "These award recipients prove that with hard work and high expectations, students can overcome challenges and achieve academic success," said State Superintendent Jack O'Connell. "By working together, administrators, teachers, staff, students, and parents have raised student achievement and narrowed the achievement gap. I congratulate these schools and everyone who worked hard to make them deserving of this significant award."
Simple Steps Can Protect Everyone During Flu SeasonThe new H1N1 flu is still circulating in our community, and will soon be joined by the regular cold and flu season. To help keep all of our CUSD students and families healthy, please keep the following healthy habits in mind:
· Just like we do at school, encourage your child to frequently wash his or her hands, cover coughs and sneezes, and avoid sharing food or drinks with others.
· Don’t send your child to school if he or she is running a fever of 100 degrees or higher, and has one or more of the following symptoms: a cough, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, body aches, headache, vomiting or diarrhea, or extreme fatigue.
· Before sending your child back to school after an illness, make sure he or she is fever-free (without the use of a fever reducer, like Tylenol) for 24 hours. · Students who arrive at school with flu symptoms will be sent home to recover, and to avoid spreading the flu among classmates. Clovis Unified will continue to conduct daily sanitation of bathrooms and high contact areas such as door knobs and countertops, but the best protection against colds and flu are the simple steps listed above. If you have any questions about H1N1 or the regular cold and flu season, please contact the CUSD Nursing Services Office at 327-9466. More information is also available on the CUSD web site at www.cusd.com. Great Tools for Parents! Below are links with some great resources for parents.
